The Retention Heatmap (Analytics → Retention) shows cohort-based retention across your client base — how many clients from each monthly cohort remain active over time.
What the Heatmap Shows
The heatmap is a grid where each row represents a cohort of clients who joined your practice in the same month, and each column represents how many months have passed since they joined.
- Y-axis (rows): Cohort month — the month each group of clients connected to your practice
- X-axis (columns): Months since joining — Month 0 is their first month, Month 1 is the following month, and so on
- Cell value: The percentage of that cohort who were active (logged in at least once) during that month
Reading the Color Scale
Cell colors range from light to dark based on the retention percentage:
| Color | Retention |
|---|---|
| Darkest shade | 80–100% of the cohort active |
| Medium shade | 40–79% of the cohort active |
