If you started tracking a policy loan after it was already in motion, Backfill loan activity lets you reconstruct dated loans, repayments, and other loan activity from your source records. Choose Upload a document to read a carrier statement or transaction history, or enter it by hand: Loans taken, Repayments, or Other loan activity.
You'll find it from an expanded row on the Loans page, the policy workspace's Loans tab, and the individual loan detail page.
Your latest carrier statement
Your latest carrier statement reports the loan balance. An entry dated after it changes the recorded balance once. An entry dated on or before it is recorded as history the statement already reports, and the balance that statement reports stays the same.
Other loan activity
Other loan activity records capitalized interest, a fee, an adjustment, or a reversal the carrier reported. For an adjustment or a reversal, choose whether it raised or lowered the balance.
Correcting history
Every activity row has a menu with Edit, Change type, and Delete. This covers loans, repayments (including imported repayments), capitalized interest, fees, adjustments, reversals the carrier reported, and a manual starting balance.
- Change type records the entry again as a different kind — for example, a row read as a repayment that was really a fee — from the same source.
