The Banking Ledger records every capital event in your banking system. It provides a comprehensive history of premiums paid, loans taken, capital deployed, loan repayments made, dividends received, and more — giving you full visibility into how capital has moved through your system over time.
What the Ledger Is
Every time capital moves through your banking system — whether you pay a premium, record a policy-loan draw, deploy capital, make a loan repayment, or receive a dividend — the event is recorded in the ledger. Most entries are created automatically as you use Policy Stack. For example, recording a loan draw also creates a ledger entry for that loan disbursement.
You can edit or delete ledger entries if something was recorded incorrectly. A direct ledger change updates that ledger row only, so correct the source record instead when a linked repayment, snapshot, asset cash flow, or other source also needs to change.
The ledger auto-populates as you record policy-loan draws, deployments, cash flows, loan repayments, and snapshots. Correct linked activity at its source when possible; use direct ledger actions only when the ledger row itself is the record that needs correction.
Characterizing a Loan Disbursement
A Loan Disbursement can identify whether the draw was Deployed into an asset or recorded for Personal use with a purpose category and optional note. Open the disbursement row's actions menu and choose Edit characterization to add or correct that information.
Re-characterizing a draw changes how the existing ledger event is linked and labeled. It does not change the draw amount or loan balance. If changing an asset link would leave recorded cash flows or repayment allocations behind, Policy Stack shows the affected counts and asks for confirmation before updating the characterization. The asset, its cash flows, and past repayment records remain unchanged.
